Patrol Division

The Patrol Division is under the command of the Lieutenant. The Lieutenant supervises four (4) Patrol Sergeants who directly supervise the four (4) Patrol Shifts. Each shift has a total of four (4) Police Officers including the Sergeant.  The Patrol Division works 12-hour shifts.

The Patrol Division operates 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, and provides law enforcement services throughout the City of Pendleton. Our Police Officers respond to a variety of calls for service while enforcing Municipal Ordinance, Oregon Traffic Code, Oregon Revised Statutes and Federal Statutes.  Calls for service include a variety of issues including but not limited to: civil matters, traffic crashes, traffic violations, vandalism, assault, child abuse, sexual assaults, burglaries, arson, homicide, explosive devices, and fraud.

In response to a call for service, Officers will respond and conduct an impartial investigation relating to violations of statutes.  The Officers will articulate the facts and circumstances in crime reports when appropriate, and take the offender(s) into custody.   Our Officers are encouraged to maintain a proactive presence in the community.

Our Police Officers are continually striving to provide quality customer service to the citizens we serve.  The Officers are required to attend and participate in a minimum of 60 hours of annual training.  The Officers are strongly encouraged to obtain more training than the minimum requirements.  Officers are also challenged to enroll in continuing education courses.

Specialized units, such as the Narcotics K-9 Team, Drug Recognition Experts, Motors, Accident Reconstruction and the Field Training Officers are also under the command of the Patrol Division.
