Local businesses receive recovery funds

Local applications still open, some pending

Pendleton, Ore. — Three Pendleton businesses have received recovery grant funds through the Community Development Block Grant Microenterprise Grant Assistance program (SBMA).

The SBMA program opened statewide earlier this year. After seeing ongoing recovery needs of small businesses after the coronavirus pandemic, the City of Pendleton applied for, and received, a grant on behalf of Umatilla County.  Businesses across Umatilla County are currently eligible for these relief dollars, and the first three Pendleton businesses have now been awarded.

“We think this is worth celebrating,” Pendleton City Manager Robb Corbett said. “We know the pandemic hit local businesses hard, and we hope this helps these businesses move closer to recovery.”

The three applications that have been awarded in the Pendleton area are:

  • AEW Welding and Custom Fabrication: $10,000
  • Miller Professional Transport: $10,000
  • Reride LLC: $10,000

Additional businesses have applications that are currently pending.

The City has partnered with Euvalcree to administer the grant funds to local businesses. Eligible businesses must have 5 or fewer employees, must be located and operate in Umatilla County, must have experienced at least a 50 percent drop in revenue in March-June 2020 and must not have received CARES Act, PPP or SBA EIDL assistance. Priority is given to businesses of low- and moderate income.
