For years, Fred Bradbury was the man making Pendleton’s VFW Fourth of July Parade possible. On Tuesday, the City of Pendleton recognized Bradbury’s commitment to the town on the holiday he was most known for.

Named Pendleton Man of the Year in 2015, Bradbury was a longtime Pendleton resident and business owner who died July 8, 2022 at 80-years-old. Multiple groups honored his memory on Tuesday, including naming him the grand marshal for Pendleton Fourth of July parade.

The Pendleton City Council joined family members on Tuesday to dedicate a memorial bench on the Pendleton River Parkway.

A plaque on the bench reads:

In remembrance of Fred Wayne Bradbury

May 13, 1942 – July 8, 2022

His impact will always be part of our community

The memorial bench for Bradbury is installed near the 8th Street Bridge.
