If you own a historic building in downtown Pendleton with an unused upper story, you may be eligible for this grant program.
The grant will cover 25% of the cost of renovating or restoring an unused upper story so that it can be occupied. It could become apartments, offices, a retail space or a studio for professional services. The restoration or renovation must follow certain standards for projects that change a historic building in downtown Pendleton.
Only a portion of the urban renewal district is eligible. The building must be located on or between SE and SW 6th Streets and between the Umatilla River and the Union Pacific railroad tracks (Frazer Avenue).
Grants are reviewed by a committee of volunteers who reside in Pendleton and meet monthly, on the second Wednesday. Grant applications are due two weeks prior to the next monthly meeting. Potential applicants are encouraged to speak with city staff about their project for advice on eligibility for the grant. Staff can be reached at 541-966-0233.
