The City of Pendleton would like to introduce Interim Fire Chief Jim Critchley to the Pendleton Fire Department.
Chief Critchley began his emergency services career in 1982 with an EMT class. He worked in a few private agencies as a security guard, EMT, firefighter, and instructor. He joined the Tucson Fire Department in 1988 and promoted through the ranks as a firefighter, paramedic, captain, and chief of training, safety, wellness, and emergency management. He became the Fire Chief in 2011.
Chief Critchley received an MBA from the University of Arizona, a Bachelor degree in Fire Service Management and an AAS In Fire Science from Pima Community College. He served on the Western Fire Chiefs Association board as State Director, Vice President, and President 2003-2012.
He retired December of 2017, from Tucson. Since then he has instructed and updated courses at the National Fire Academy. He also worked with a group educating fire chiefs about Firstnet public safety broadband. He is excited to have a new challenge to maintain stability for the firefighters and this wonderful community.
Chief Critchley Jr. and his wife have three wonderful adult children.
