Pendleton Fire and Ambulance announces that due to seasonal weather patterns, open burning will be closed at dusk Sunday (June 16) for the city of Pendleton, Rieth Water District, Lower McKay, McKay Dam and Riverside fire districts. If weather permits, open burning will reopen on Oct. 1.
Burn barrels within the fire districts are not included, but can only be used on green days. Burn barrels are not allowed in the Pendleton city limits at any time. Green days are announced by Umatilla County and can be obtained by calling 541-278-6397.
Open burning is defined as any outdoor burning including yard debris. Special permits are available for burning demolition waste, construction debris, bonfires, field burns, stump burns, etc. There is no charge for the permits.
