The Pendleton Fire & Ambulance Service responded to an explosion at 34 SE Dorion Ave. (the Old City Hall) on Tuesday. Fire personnel were on scene within minutes, and found the building engulfed in flames. There were 3 individuals injured on scene and immediately transported to the Hospital. Multiple agencies assisted in the incident that included CTUIR Fire Department, Hermiston Fire and Emergency Services, Athena Fire, Pilot Rock Fire, Pendleton Police, Pendleton Public Works, Pendleton Building Department, Oregon State Police, and the Oregon Fire Marshal Office.
In addition, the Fire Marshal reported that many citizens and local businesses provided assistance as well, including: Cascade Natural Gas, Pacific Power, ODOT, Red Cross, VFW, Big Johns, Prodigal Son, Walmart, Episcopal Church, Papa Murphy’s, Eden’s Café, Dave’s Chevron, Byrnes Oil, and perhaps others.
The City of Pendleton wishes to thank the many businesses and volunteers who rushed in to aid during this emergency.
Additionally, the City Manager expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the hard work, efficiency, and professionalism of our Fire & Ambulance Department in all they did to protect the City from further loss of life and property.
